Hotspot (in field of Cricket)
Which is like a festival for the people of India.
Every day 1 or 2 matches are played.
So, in this cricket season let's get the knowledge of a technology that is used in cricket that helps the third umpire take the right decision during the match.
So, in this article, we will know about the Hotspot.
Just after hearing the word question arises in our mind that,
What is the word Hotspot mean?
A hotSpot is an image-sensing system that makes use of infrared cameras to find out if the batsman has nicked the ball.
This technology was first introduced in cricket by a Melbourne-based company, BBG Sports. Although two infrared cameras are enough, generally four infrared cameras are used to record the game continuously.

View with the Infrared cameras when the ball strikes the bat.
Now we know what is Hotspot, but somewhere in our mind, there is a question that how this technology work.
Don't worry I will solve your this doubt.
Take a deep breath and go ahead.
Working of Hotspot.
As we already know that this technology uses Infrared cameras, these infrared cameras are placed outside the ground and take the view of the pitch only.
4 cameras take a view of the pitch from each dimension. This camera takes the image in black & white.
The working principle of infrared cameras is very simple the camera works on the thermal waves remote sensing.
When the ball makes contact with the bat, pad, pitch, or batsman, friction is generated.
By friction, heat is produced and the temperature of the surface changes, this temperature change is detected by the infrared Camera system.
And that is how the contact zone is detected.
When the ball strikes view using Hotspot.
